Our Purpose
Our purpose here at SCOG is to be a healthy, life-giving church that is making a difference in our community. We want all people to experience the reality of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the difference He can make in their life. Jesus gave His life for us and now we want to live our life for Him by serving Him, by doing the things He taught us to do, and by bringing glory and honor to His name.
Our Church’s Affiliation
Our church is affiliated with the Church of God based in Cleveland, TN. For over 125 years the Church of God has been a distinctive movement focused upon communicating the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. Dean and Christianna have served as pastors of Somerset Church of God since 2018. Their heart is to create a church where people feel welcomed, connected, and encouraged in their walk with Jesus.
They are passionate about helping individuals and families grow in their faith and experience real community. Dean and Christianna are blessed with four children and twelve grandchildren, and they value building strong, healthy relationships both at home and within the church.
No matter where you are in your journey, they are committed to walking alongside you and helping you take your next step.
Connor has been serving in youth ministry since 2019 and has a passion for reaching the next generation for Christ. He and his wife Brooke have been doing ministry together for the past four years, building relationships and investing in students lives.
They also own Hom Coffee Shop, using it as a way to connect with the community and share the love of Christ.
Connor’s heart is to reach students of Somerset and the surrounding areas, helping them grow in their faith and make an impact for Christ!
Josh and his wife, Ambra are passionate about helping people encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and become active participants in the church family. Josh serves as a Staff Pastor at Somerset Church of God and is an ordained Bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). He has served in ministry for ever a decade in a variety of roles, including youth ministry, pastoral leadership, and church administration.
Josh & Ambra were married in 2020 while serving in ministry. Outside of ministry, Josh & Ambra enjoy spending time with family and friends, serving their community, and making memories together as they prepare to welcome their first child. Their greatest desire is to see people experience God’s love, discover their purpose, and live out the calling God has placed on their lives.
